FYI salaries for 2008 and 2009

I just got finished reading the minutes from the Massachusetts Statewide Independent Living Council meetings. I find it both ironic and hilarious that I.L. Centers say they are under funded.
Has anyone really been following this blog, does anyone think there is any false information on this blog. If any information on here is false I am sure that the lawyers would have pushed harder to get it removed or would have taken action. It is stated below that the NILP's budget in 16 short months went from $804.601 up to $1,009.699, someone please tell me where there is a shortage of money's.

I think that the wrong approach has been used here to explain the salary of the E.D. For those of you who lost your jobs, or on fixed incomes, have to survive on SSI or SSDI and are having a very difficult time making ends meet on $1,000 to $1,500 per month, give this some serious thought when you hear other people say ILC are under-funded, the ED at NILP makes approximately $8,500.00 per month, and has given what she calls her loyal staff some major increases in their salary.

Taken from the minutes of the SILC meetings.

Joe Castelani My name is Joe Castellani, Executive director of Ad lib, and I just wanted to say that we support the executive director input as presented by Mary Margaret. I look forward to that again and I think it adequately addresses the historical underfunding of the centers, takes into account the real probability that we're going to endorse some more cuts very quickly, and has a plan for us to cope with these cuts.

It is proven that ILC have been grossly under-funded for years but please do support those IL centers that are using their funding for you, using their funding to provide advocacy to help you as a person with a disability live a more independent life style.

The year ending in June 2009 the agency had less employees either terminated or left because of the hostile environment.

Figures received from the Statement of Functional Expenses for the year ending in 2009 the salaries range went from $804.601 in 2008 to $1,009.699 in 2009. Ask yourself how can this be with LESS staff.

If you are a Massachusetts Taxpayer or a person with a disability you need to take action to save NILP. If you continue to sit back and not take action then your tax dollars will continue to be wasted and people with disabilities - have been and will continue moving backwards, again.

Shame on the state of massachusetts, shame on any agency that provides this place with any kind of funding. People with disabilities and taxpayers are being raped and no one is willing to come forward and take the lead to end this abuse of taxpayers dollars.

I have something I would like to share with all of you.

Before the last employees left, he had called me and said I have to talk to you. I agreed to meet with him to discuss what was on his mind. He started off by saying you know I went to the hospital because of stress related issued. I asked why was you have having stress, his immediate reply was, you know work.

When I asked him to tell me about it, he stated that he was alone and no one to talk too for help. He said the E.D. is never available and always on her cell phone. The A.D. has no idea about my program and does very little work and is always visiting the person in another office.

He also went on to explain about how little work is being done by other staff below the ED. He was also very concerned about losing Lowell as his service area, and the funding for his program. Although, we know there was not a problem with funding for that program at that time, why was he never told this?

The last thing he mentioned to me was the lack of work he had at the time and that he had to lie and make up numbers in his documentation system in the computer.

It's was really sad to know that this was the only way he could reach out for help.

I would suggest to the BOD that they start looking at people's e-mails, cell phone records if they claim it is work related issue, and contract mangers should ask for back-up documentation as to what is being entered their data requirements on the computers.

Has anyone told his parents about this. If the medical records state stress and work this should not be taken lightly.

Thanks for the heads up on the picture on that web page. I wonder if she knows that she has NOT fooled everyone. It stated "Local folks with disabilities, and seniors from all across the Valley enjoyed a personal, (up-close,) face to face dialogue with their local Legislators to discuss important issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities and our families".

Speaking about discussing important issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities I wonder if anyone mentioned the wonderful job she has done on affecting the lives of people with disabilities.

People with disabilities have the lowest job rate in the country and she in just a year and a half made a hugh contribution to the numbers, just to balance a budget because.

Why is it that Gary Hale and the Board of Directors have not seen through her yet, what are they waiting for?

If you take the time and evaluate each and every board member you may come to the conclusion that there is not one board member capable or willing to make the right decision.

Go back and read the Top 10 Ways To Ruin A Center For Independent Living, it is shocking that it was posted August 11, 2008 and back then no one listened. Read all ten of them and it states exactly what has happened to NILP, such a shame.

I think it's time to investigate to see if it is possible to sue an executive board, give it some thought. Comments and suggestions can be sent to savenilp@gmail.com
